About Adrian Blake

Adrian Blake Toronto Freelance WriterI’m a Toronto freelance business writer who’s dedicated to helping small and medium businesses grow through the strategic use of web and print copy.

Copywriting is at the heart of my service, and you’ll find brochure and advertorial copy, trade show collateral, and media releases in my portfolio. I also write website content for business.

I’ve produced engaging online content and print stories for magazines and newspapers, too. When not describing travel adventures for magazine readers, I’ve road-tested the latest motorcycles (hey, somebody has to do it!) as national columnist for the largest newspaper chain in Canada.

How I help your business

I work with companies to…

  • Build brand awareness. Stand out with a well-crafted social media strategy to reach your key business audience. Highlight your newest products and services or latest achievements with a brochure, advertorial, or media release.
  • Convert prospects into customers. Case studies make a powerful pitch for your business. This formidable sales tool can help establish or reinforce your reputation for quality, reliability, and trust.
  • Ensure customer loyalty. Once your website visitors become your customers, you can’t afford to love ’em and leave ’em. Relevant website content and e-newsletter copy will keep them engaged and informed (and buying your products and services!).

More benefits for clients

What motivates me as a writer? Simple. I love to tell stories that matter. To me, if you have a product or service that people should know about because it will make their lives better, your story – your message – deserves to be told.

What do clients get when they work with me?

  • Strategic thinking. You can’t get there from here without a map. And a little intuition. I help clients navigate their writing needs to find best ways to get their message out.
  • Clear communication every step of the way. Keeping decision-makers in the loop plays a key role in successful writing projects. I work hard to keep the lines of communication open with regular progress reports.
  • Service that strives to be exceptional. Business is all about building and maintaining relationships. Writing clients benefit from the solid customer service skills that I bring from online retail and technical support experience.

The backstory

My writing ‘journey’ was sparked in my pre-teens when I was first published in a local newspaper (thanks to my Grade 6 teacher, wherever you are). I later studied liberal arts at the University of Winnipeg while spending many hours spinning vinyl at the campus radio station.

Following stints in the (cool, dark and lonely) technical departments for CBC and Global TV, I learned the craft of journalism at Toronto’s Humber College. I hung out my freelance writing shingle in 2001 and devoted myself to my business full-time beginning in 2006.

Besides writing, teaching has been an immensely satisfying experience. I taught English As A Second Language (ESL) to business managers from Quebec and Japan.

I also do my best to encourage aspiring writers. While an executive member (VP Programming) of the Professional Writers Association of Canada (Toronto), I coordinated/hosted an annual seminar series for non-fiction writers. As the chapter’s VP Membership, I helped promote the association to those with an interest in writing.

Giving back to the community is something I actively practice. Distress centre counsellor and Alzheimer’s advocate rank high on my list of contributions to causes close to my heart.

About you

But enough about me. Tell me about you! Could your business benefit from my writing services? Let’s talk.
